16 Weeks 6 Days Along

16 Weeks 6 Days Along

Our baby is a sweet BOY!!! We can't believe it, we are still in shock!! We had our OB appointment today and Dr. Johnson was nice enough to do another ultrasound to try to find the gender. He had to put the probe down really low, on my pubic bone and push really hard. He said "Oh, your bladder is full! That helps!" The funny thing is that I had just barely used the restroom and my bladder had filled up again already! So glad that my full bladder helped! He got some really creative angles of the baby, and eventually got this view:

Dr. Johnson kept saying he was having a hard time seeing the genitals. And then out of nowhere he proclaimed "He's a he!" John and I were so happy and in total disbelief! We totally thought the doctor wasn't going to be able to locate the baby's genitals. But he did! If you look at the above ultrasound picture- His head is the circle on the left and if you look closely, on the right is his pelvic bone (basically his bottom), and you can see this little "finger like" projection off to the left of the pelvic bone. That's his penis! And his testes are on either side of the little penis. So cute!! He was so much bigger this time than last! It's so nice to be able to call the baby a "he" now, rather than having to say "he or she." We are so so so happy!! We love him SO MUCH already!... We stopped at the store on our way home and picked out two of the very cutest baby boy outfits we could find and we proudly have them on display in the living room! I just HAD to buy him something so we had something tangible for him. We texted and called lots of people to tell them. We talked to Lynda on the phone, and it was so cute, she said- "You know who's going to be extremely excited that you're having a boy, right?" The answer was "Grandma Dorothy." After the phone call John went on to explain that Dorothy has a special place in her heart for boy babies. Most likely because she had so many daughters and the one son she did have died shortly after birth. It boggles my mind to know that our baby has been a boy all this time, but obviously just couldn't tell until this point in gestation. What will he look like when he comes out? Will he be a fussy baby or calm baby? Time will tell! I have to say- John would have been totally happy with a girl, too, but we both kind of wanted a boy first, to be the big protector of his future siblings. And John, of course, has all kinds of plans for him and his boy. Sports being the number one of course! John has a fun way of being silly and making life fun. Our little boy will really get a sense of that. We want our kids to have good morals, but also high up there on the list is that we want them to know how to have fun, laugh, and be silly and bond. John will be great at that.

His heart rate was 160, as usual! He's so beautiful. Watching him move on the screen was heavenly for me.

We are so in love with this little guy already. We are so relieved to know his gender, finally! We can't wait to meet him, but we will anyways, so that he keeps on growing, aka "cooking!" ... My friend Star had her gender ultrasound today too! Later in the evening my she posted a video of her and her husband doing a gender reveal with her daughter and her mom. She is pregnant with a girl, it turns out! So fun! She had Facebook friends guess if it was going to be a boy or girl before they did the reveal. Of the people who got the gender right, she put their names in a bowl. Then her daughter picked out two names and those people got $25 gift cards for Amazon. As luck would have it, I won! It was all on Facebook. So fun. I'm all kinds of lucky today! And now she and I HAVE to get together for lunch or something. We've been meaning to go for months, but both of our morning sicknesses have been somewhat of a hindrance. She's a great person, I really like her. So nice, and such a good mom. 11-7-17

This one has little monster teeth on the hood. So so cute!

Above are the two outfits we picked out for him at the store today. The first one was only 99 cents! Pretty cool. When we got home, I put them both on display in the living room. John said "Let's keep them there."
