Annoying Smoke Detector

So, for the last probably couple of weeks, we've had a smoke detector that just would NOT stop beeping! Even with a new battery! So John did some (a lot) of research and discovered that this particular smoke detector required several particular steps in exchanging the battery.

So after a long 13 hour work shift, John came home, fixed the smoke detector, did all of the dishes, and then gave me a massage! He was exhausted, to say the least! He tried to stay up late since his shift wasn't supposed to start until 6pm the next day (he will have to work all through the night!) Hopefully this is the last time he will have to do this for this new agency. But he was sooooo tired, that he couldn't help but fall asleep. Hopefully he can stay awake for his entire shift!

He's been such a trooper with these long shifts! It's kind of cool though that he seems more emotionally energetic when he gets home. I think having co workers and interaction with lots of patients kind of energizes him.

However yesterday he was in charge of 19 patients on his floor! He said if he hadn't had a trainer he would have been there til 11pm that night catching up on charting. I hope it's not always like that for him.

Back to the smoke detector- he found out that he had to turn the power off to that hallway, take out the old battery, hold the button down 15 seconds, put the new battery in and then turn the power back on. It worked! I am so grateful! We hated the beeps!
