It's official! Donald Trump is the republican nominee!! John and I didn't think Trump could beat the cheating candidates and the corrupt government election rules, but he did do it! Trump won Indiana by about 20 points (he was down 20 points just weeks before), and that evening Ted Cruz dropped out of the race and then the next day John Kasich dropped out. It was glorious! Trump said he didn't even expect it to happen like that!
Logan Visit
On a less competitive note, John and I drove up to his Grandma and Grandpa Kirschbaum's house in Logan on Saturday. The best part about the drive up there was the fact that there was no snow! We are loving May. Still a little crisp, but not bad.
The purpose of the trip was Mother's Day and to see Kinne and Jim off. They are leaving for their mission on Tuesday (they got bumped up from September to May and had to get ready quickly!) They fly out Tuesday to their mission in Kauai. So excited for them!
We went to Firehouse Pizza that first night. The beautiful woman on the right is Carol, Jim's sister.

Jim, Sr. was excited to go to Firehouse Pizza so Kinne and Jim could get a picture in front of this shirt on the wall. It says "KFD Kauai Fire Departement, Hawaii." And then of course we ordered Hawaiian style pizza. So very symbolic of their upcoming journey.

Awwww. So sad to see them go, so shortly after their most recent mission. It's fun watching John and his dad tease each other. They're cute together.
The next day we went to Carol's ward. It was fun to sit with all the family and enjoy the meeting together. The talks were all really good, especially the little boys'. The most enjoyable part of the meeting was at the end when Kinne and John shared with each other their stories about Jim's intense gum chewing addiction. John's never been able to get him to quit and neither has Kinne. Jim claims it's a great work out though. Ha!
For Mother's Day we celebrated at Blue Bird Diner, Jim Sr.'s favorite restaurant. John and Carol are in the very middle. They are Jim Jr's brother and sister. Yes, John and his uncle have the exact same names, so my John is called "Little John" while we're there. So Cute. John and John are actually a lot alike.
We're so glad that John (John's uncle) has been cleared of the cancerous cells that were in his bladder. John and I have been praying for him for months, ever since we found out. We were so worried about him. He seems to be doing very well! We're so thankful! John shared with us his cancer treatment experience and how talented and knowledgeable his doctor is.
We missed Mary and their kids, Scott and Trudy and their kids, Carol's kids, and Jeanie and her family!
John and I got to help Jim and Kinne out with our new 4Runner (again, so glad we have it!) We were able to fit ALL of Kinne and Jim's luggage for their entire mission in the back of our truck and take it over to the stake president's house who was set to take them to the airport. We will miss them!
The fog above the mountains behind Jim and Bev's house was incredible. I tried to capture its beauty but my iPhone camera clearly did not do it justice. Such a pretty time of the year!
Visited Mom
On our way home we stopped at Mom's and Simon's. We talked for a while and then Simon cooked us a tremendous Chinese meal. So glad we got to see them!
John's Memorabilia
P.S.- Kinne and Jim brought us some of John's childhood memorabilia- his mission letters (to Jim), a basketball trophy with his and his brother's/ friends autographs, and some pictures. I love this picture of him. Every time I see one of his cute childhood pictures, it gets me so excited thinking about what our future kids will look like!
John was a very dedicated writer to his parents on his mission. I've almost read all of the letters he wrote to his mom, but now I've got a whole new stack. Will be fun! It includes his farewell talk, which I read already. His conversion process is pretty cool. 5-8-16
