Dunkirk

Dunkirk

We saw the movie Dunkirk and it was amazing. I thought it was weird they never mentioned "Hitler" or "Nazi" in it, though. There were a few characters we really liked; there was this man, his son and a fellow young man (none of them in the military) who boarded a pleasure boat and traveled back and forth in the sea of Dunkirk to rescue men who had been forced off their boats into the water or fell in  into the water, in their planes after getting shot down.  What amazing men they were. They WANTED to fight for their country. One of the boys in the boat talks about how he wanted to come with them to Dunkirk because he wanted to do something meaningful, something that would land him in the local newspaper. Spoiler alert- this young man did die, but as he had wished, he was mentioned in his town's local paper and called a hero...The movie had great actors and very little CGI. It was pretty realistic. I like how most, if not all, of the military men weren't good looking. Close up shots showed lots of acne; made it feel much more real to me. -late July
