John joined an online game, somewhat like Fantasy Football. And the other day he discovered that he won 5th place out of 1,077 people. He won $450! Yay, John! He is really good at these football prediction games. 9/13/17
WGU Orientation
John had his over-the-phone orientation with Western Governor's University today. He starts school on October 2nd. It's all going to be online. He seems excited. Probably not for the actual schooling, but to be able to continue on in his journey to become a Psych Nurse Practitioner. It's so nice to know that he knows exactly what he wants to do, professionally, and that he'll enjoy doing it; and that his schooling, as far as we know, won't be too demanding. He only has 40 credits left to complete his bachelor's of nursing degree (a lot of his credits transferred over from other schools he attended), and then he can start grad school! It will probably take about a year to get to that point. He'll be working full time and going to school full time. Aaaahhhhh. We'll see how it goes. 9/16/17

Richard Cole
This morning I watched a YouTube video of Richard Cole, a man who claims he had an "out of body" experience in which he met God. I was hesitant to watch it because I figured he was a fake. Then I saw that there were over 3 million views, so I decided to give it a chance. He begins talking about the day he experienced a burst aneurysm and had to have emergency surgery the next morning, otherwise he would bleed to death, internally. The surgeon explained to him that he would have to freeze Richard's body to a point in which he would be flat-lining, in order for them to be able to do this specific surgery. Only 10% of people who receive this surgery actually survive. Richard recounted the anesthesiologist giving him a shot that made him sleepy and then put him out completely. But then he "woke up" as they wheeled him into the operating room. He wasn't really awake; he was dead and outside of his body. He tried talking to the doctor but the words wouldn't come out. They started the surgery and to his surprise, he felt no pain. He watched them take a scalpel to his chest and then chisel away at his sternum, then proceed to take his heart out of his chest cavity. And that's when things went completely dark. That's when he heard a voice, a very authoritative, commanding voice, right behind him. It was God. He talked to Richard and Richard asked him if he could turn around and look at Him, but He said he could not look at Him, or else he'd have to "stay." So they continued to talk. Richard explained that although he never turned around to see God, he could somehow "see" that behind him there was a white throne with God sitting in it. At the end of their conversation God told him it was time to "go back", but that he could first ask Him any question. Richard couldn't think of anything to ask but "What's the meaning of life?" So he asked Him "What's the meaning of life?" God laughed and responded that a lot of people ask Him that question and that He would tell him the answer when he saw Him again. And then, at that moment Richard felt God's arms wrap around him, from behind; he embraced him with the most loving hug. Richard said he felt pure, unconditional love in that moment and then began crying as he continued telling his story. When the surgeon and nurses completed the surgery and brought Richard's temperature up to 90 degrees, he returned to his body and eventually awoke from the surgery. He decided to tell everyone of his experience. He was eventually baptized and he read the bible. Some time later he had a discussion with another man who claimed he had a similar "out of body" experience in which he met God. The man said that he, too, asked God what the meaning of life was. God responded "It's love." 9/17/17

"This is Us"
For months John has been saying we could start the show "This is Us", but we didn't until just the other day. It's pretty good so far. We're about 7 episodes in. It has Mandy Moore and some other well known actors (but apparently not "well known" enough for me to know their names). I like that they are making family- oriented shows like this one and Parenthood. 9/17/17
